About Statelex

Pricing law in the United States is being rewritten one state at a time — Maryland, California, New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, each drawing its own lines around surveillance pricing, algorithmic pricing, and how retailers may use consumer and competitor data to set prices. The rules differ by state, change by the week, and arrive buried in legislative text written for lawyers, not operators. Statelex exists to make that landscape legible: every week we track what actually changed, state by state, and translate it into plain English — what passed, what’s pending, what’s enforceable now, and what it means for retailers and delivery platforms. One five-minute read, no jargon.

Our standard

Accuracy is the entire product. Every load-bearing fact in Statelex — whether a bill was signed, when it takes effect, what it covers, how it’s enforced — is checked against primary sources: the legislature’s own record, the governor’s or attorney general’s office, the bill text itself. Not AI summaries, not second-hand blogs. When something is uncertain or untested, we say so plainly rather than guess. We report the record and leave the decision to you — Statelex is an information service, not legal advice.

Who it’s for

Statelex is built for the people who answer for pricing compliance: general counsel, chief legal and compliance officers, privacy counsel, and regulatory teams at retailers, grocers, convenience and pharmacy chains, and delivery platforms — especially those operating across multiple states.
